We consider it the ultimate compliment when we book a wedding from a bridesmaid of a wedding we shot. Who would know better about what it would be like to work with us? Lucky for us, Lauren and Johnny loved working with us at Lauren’s sister Sarah’s wedding last year and thought of us right away when she and Johnny got engaged. This adorable couple tied the knot at the Historic Rice Mill in Charleston, SC. They enjoyed the amazing water view surrounded by friends and family. Lauren and Johnny were kind enough to share about their wedding day with us, so here are the details in their own words:
Our venue was the Historic Rice Mill located at 17 Lockwood Drive in Charleston, South Carolina. This building was once a rice mill during the Antebellum period. It is located along the Ashley River. Good Food Catering was our caterer for our dinner at the reception. We had three stations which served wonderful southern menu items such as fried green tomato salad, fried chicken served over mashed potatoes and green beans, and shrimp and grits. Every table was provided with a basket of biscuits and honey butter. Towards the end of the night, Good Food Catering served shots of milk with a chocolate chip cookie! All of our guests loved the food. Our sales manager was Jenna DeSavino. She was wonderful to work with! Jenna always replied to emails promptly and had wonderful suggestions for the food and rentals. She was a great asset in planning out the wedding. Our wedding cake was made by Lauren Robertson of the Cake Stand. It was a lovely three tiered cake with layers of vanilla and chocolate cake. The icing was a delicious vanilla buttercream. Each tier had a wrapping of seagrass basket weaving design, along with coral peony flowers on each layer. I was very pleased with our cake. It was exactly what I wanted it to look like and everyone enjoyed eating it! Our flowers were from Charleston Flower Market. Catherine Davis designed and created all of the flower arrangements for our wedding. She worked hard to create everything that I wanted. She was easy to work with and was familiar with the Historic Rice Mill and knew what would look great. Our ceremony music was provided by Classical Charleston. Andrew Mille was great to work with and helped me choose wonderful music selections for our ceremony. Our cocktail hour and reception music was provided through Other Brother Entertainment with DJ Josh. He was fantastic! He played everything that I asked to be played and did a great job with making announcements to keep the wedding reception on schedule. Everyone had a great time dancing!
Our photographer was Kelly Edwards! We loved her!! We first met her at my sister’s wedding last May. My family and I were very pleased with my sister’s pictures and I knew that I had to have her for my wedding. My fiancé and I enjoyed working with Kelly and knew that she would capture every moment of our wedding day! She was fun to work with and I am so happy that I was able to have her as my photographer.
I created the mason jar vases that were on our cocktail tables. I bought the mason jars from Michaels and wrapped them with twine. Our seating chart was written on old windows that my sister found in the cellar of her house. We cleaned and painted the windows white. My sister-in-law helped me by writing our guests’ names on the window panes. She also wrote our welcome message on our chalkboard sign. I took a picture frame that I bought from Marshall’s and painted the glass with chalkboard paint. This was used for a gifts and cards table. All of these ideas came from Pinterest.
I was so happy with the way our wedding turned out! It was everything I thought it would be and wanted it to be. I was not disappointed with anything on that day. Even though it was hot, I was so happy! Johnny had a great time at our wedding and thought that it was very nice!
I am so glad that I had a Day of Coordinator. Debbie Wright is a family friend and did a wonderful job making sure everything went smoothly on the big day! It is wonderful to have someone take charge so that you don’t have to worry about anything!
Congratulations Lauren and Johnny! We wish you both a lifetime of happiness!!
